The most basic problem that we deal with in materials science and chemistry is simply the identification or characterization of matter. Whether you have a plastic you need to know the molecular composition of, a liquid of unknown chemistry, a metal alloy that you need compared with others for subtle differences in the structure, Lab/Cor Materials has the analytical equipment and the expertise to give you the information you need.
Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy
When you need to identify organic or organometallic compounds (such as polymers and oils) on a molecular scale, Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) is one of the fastest and cost effective methods available. The spectrometer measures the resonance of the bonds in the sample using an infrared source. This creates a unique fingerprint not unlike a human's DNA. We can then analyze the fingerprint and match your sample to one of the thousands in our libraries and tell you what the sample is.
Some recent applications of FTIR have been the testing of toys for phthalates, as well as the testing of transformer oil and biodiesel.

Please contact us if you have any questions regarding possible applications of Gas Chromatography for your purposes.
High-Pressure Liquid Chromatography separates organic compounds by their relative chemical or thermodynamic properties. Using a variety of in-house HPLC equipment, the separation and identification of sample constituents becomes efficient and quantifiable.
Chromatographic separation data from HPLC can be used in conjunction with our other analytical techniques to quantitatively determine the relative chemical concentrations of unknown or identified compounds in your samples. A Lab/Cor representative is available to assist in determining how our HPLC system and analyst can help quantify your sample.
