Chemical and Materials Analyst Position

​Lab/Cor - Materials
is an analytical service based science and engineering consulting laboratory located
at 810 NW 45th Street in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle. We are a full-service materials and fuel
analysis laboratory – covering everything from basic materials identification to product research and
development. Our staff is required to research, test and report on new and unique projects on a regular
basis. Applicants should be bright, hard-working, adaptable and ready to learn. No previous professional
experience required but applicants must be highly motivated self-starters. This position will report to
senior scientists but will require a high level of independence.


Responsibilities:
    - Sample receipt, log-in, preparation, and analysis
    - Data processing and reporting
    - Method development and experimental design
    - Operation of basic analytical instruments with opportunities to learn many techniques
    - Laboratory organization and maintenance
    - Calibration and Maintenance of laboratory equipment, tools and inventories of supplies
    - Provide support on marketing and proposal efforts as required
    - Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support company need
Qualifications:
    - BS/MS degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science/engineering, mechanical
engineering or related
    - Interest and knowledge of basic chemistry, physics, materials science, and/or relevant
engineering field
    - Experience or extensive coursework in chemical and material analysis including spectroscopy,
mass spectrometry, and chromatographic instruments (FTIR, XRF, GC, UV-Vis, HPLC, NMR)  
   - Experience or extensive coursework in sample prep and wet chemistry techniques including
titrations, extractions, and distillations.
   - Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Additional Considerations:
   - Ability to work in proximity to chemicals, noise and odors
   - Ability to perform repetitive tasks with a high level of accuracy
   - Strict adherence to procedures in accordance with Laboratory Quality Control Manual 
   - Scientific curiosity, willingness to learn, and ability to research unique problems quickly
   - Strong critical thinking and problem solving abilities
   - Troubleshooting analytical instrumentation
   - Maintaining records of instrumentation service, maintenance, and calibrations
   - Knowledge of chemical handling and disposal protocols
   - Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Windows operating systems
   - Basic understanding of Python, MATLAB, or similar
   - Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently with strict deadlines, highly organized and
     attention to detail
Schedule:
   - Flexible hours M-F 8.30-5pm. Occasional after hours/weekends depending on projects.​
