Fuel Analysis

Lab/Cor Materials is proud to offer a wide range analyses for petroleum products.  We are experts at testing everything from common gasoline to designer fuels, as well as a variety of oils (motor, transformer, etc.).

Lab/Cor Materials is equipped with state-of-the-art analysis equipment capable of determining essential characteristics of petroleum products. Comprehensive data from distillations, density measurements, and phase separations provide crucial data regarding fuel purity and contamination. Infrared and X-ray fluorescence spectroscopies are capable of identifying proper additive content and monitoring sample quality.  In addition, we offer the petroleum-specific testing methods listed below.

Pensky-Martens Flash Point Determination
- Determination of flash points of various petroleum products at temperatures between 20 and 370 ºC.
- Applicable to distillate fuels, new and in-use lubricating oils, homogeneous petroleum products, residual fuel oils, cutback residua, used lubricating oils, mixtures of petroleum liquids with solids.
- Detection of contamination of relatively nonvolatile or nonflammable materials with volatile or flammable materials.
- Important property for assessing the overall flammability hazard of a material.
- Used in shipping and safety regulations to define flammable and combustible materials.

Karl Fischer (KF) Titration
- Volumetric titration for determining the water content in solid and liquid organic or inorganic compounds.
- Measures water content over a wide range (parts per million to pure water).
- Rapid determination of fuel and oil contamination.
